Topp & Dubio - This must be 2019

Topp & Dubio show their latest work in a former German WWII bunker in The Hague. The exhibition completely ignores the historical character of this place as a relic of World War II. After a few projects in which history played an important role, the artists now focus entirely on the near future.

'This must be 2019' is an exhibition of new installations, objects, videos and light projections in which documentary and narrative references have no place. The works have no function (yet) and substantiate no theory or idea. This deliberate desire to delete and create new meanings can be seen as an attempt to create more space, more time and more opportunities. 'This must be 2019' assumes a malleable, ductile and round sense of time. A space that is both clear and infinite. In which objects, constructions and moving images that still have to prove their existence and asking questions about their origins and about the potential of things.
